Funeral services are Wednesday for Mrs. Cora E. Stephens, 83,. 313 s. 11 th st., who died at 4:15 a.m. today at the Beverly Shores Nursing home.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the White Funeral home with the Rev. Sanford Souers of St. John's United Church of Christ officiating and burial will be in Chesterton cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. tomorrow.
She had lived in this area most of her life, and she and her late husband operated a grocery store on Porter ave. for about 15 years where now the Family grocery is located. They operated the store up until the early 1950's.
She was born April 28, 1882 in Lincoln, Neb., the daughter of Joseph and Lena (Friday) Morrical, and in Chesterton on May 28, 1902, she married John A. Stephens, who died Sept. 13, 1957.
Surviving are two sons. Harrison and Marion of Chesterton; three sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Nora) Ritter of Hobart, Mrs. Charles (Anna) Whitehead of Chesterton, and Mrs. Frank (Maude) Kieffer of Michigan City; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
